First Visit FAQs
Walk-ins are welcome! That said, if you’re planning to visit with a large group, we recommend filling out a request on our Groups page. We will do everything we can to accommodate unscheduled groups in a timely fashion, but strongly recommend scheduling in advance if you plan to climb with 8 or more participants. This will ensure a better experience for your group.
Not at all — first-timers are our specialty. We’ll give you a quick orientation when you arrive, and staff are available to answer questions throughout your visit.
Wear comfortable athletic clothes and socks. We offer rental climbing shoes and other gear if you don’t have your own.
A day pass gives you full-day access to the gym. Rental gear is available if needed. See our Rates & Hours page for details.
Yes — all climbers and spectators need a signed waiver. If you’re under 18, a parent or legal guardian must complete it. Fill it out online here.
Yes! Kids are welcome with the following requirements:
- All participants ages 15 and younger must have an adult present with them in the building.
- Minimum age for bouldering is 7. Kids ages 7–12 can boulder with active adult supervision, as long as both have completed our Youth Bouldering Orientation.
- Children ages 15 and younger may rope climb when accompanied by a parent or guardian who is certified to operate climbing ropes. There is no minimum age requirement, they just need to properly fit into a harness (typically ages 4-5)
- Maximum recommended adult to child ratio is 1:3.
- All minors must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian — no exceptions.
Yes — walk-ins are welcome for both adults and kids. As long as your child meets the age and supervision requirements (see above), you can climb together without registering for a program. Parents must complete a skills check to become certified to use roped climbing areas. If you are new to roped climbing, our Intro to Top Rope class will teach you everything you need to know.
There are no time restrictions if you are operating safety ropes for your child. If your child would like to boulder, youth bouldering access is available during the following times:
- Weekdays: Open–5 PM
- Weekends: 10 AM–4 PM (Times may vary slightly by location.)
Bouldering is climbing shorter walls without ropes, with padded flooring below. It’s easy to get started and doesn’t require any equipment or partner.
Top rope climbing uses a rope and harness, with the rope anchored from above. One person climbs while another manages the rope from the ground (called ‘belaying’). To use top rope areas, you’ll need a partner and must receive a top rope belay certification with our staff.
